Organic Gardening
We are increasingly becoming more aware of our environment, and being encouraged to do our bit for the world around us. The garden is no exception - in fact our humble gardens are one of the key areas we can take positive steps to be more environmentally aware. The good news is that our plants and especially our produce will look and taste better as a result!
There seems no shortage of news stories about the importance of healthy food, and why we should be eating it. What could be more rewarding and healthy than harvesting your own organically grown produce straight from your own garden?
Whilst we might see our gardens as a safe haven away from our increasingly hectic lives, we often don't think twice about how much pesticide might be used, that can have a detrimental effect on what we grow in our garden, or what we might buy from the supermarket.
An organic garden can also have enormous benefits on the natural wildlife that inhabit our back yards - helping to promote a healthy balanced habitat on our doorstep.
Main Benefits of an Organic Garden
- Human Impact
Using organic methods means less human impact on the environment. Resources are no longer considered infinite, so limiting what we use, or using renewable resources will be better for everyone in the long term.
- Biodiversity
Organic growing helps to encourage a greater range of wildlife in your garden, from beautiful butterflies to larger birds visiting.
- Less Waste
Wherever possible reducing waste can only be a benefit. By composting as much as we can, we not only reduce our outgoing waste, but it can be put to good use in our garden, again whilst providing a natural habitat for a variety of bugs and beasties.
